Why Did You Decide to Become a Dentist?
Dr. Elhein was drawn to dentistry through a deep interest in precision, problem solving, and the meaningful impact oral health has on overall well-being. As he progressed in his training, periodontics stood out as a specialty that blended advanced surgical care with long-term patient relationships. Helping others overcome gum disease, regain comfort, and restore confidence in their smiles became the driving force behind his career. As a California native, Dr. Elhein brings a distinct West Coast calm to the treatment room, believing that a relaxed atmosphere leads to better clinical outcomes.
Where Did You Study Dentistry?
Dr. Elhein earned his dental degree from the New York University College of Dentistry, where he demonstrated early leadership by serving as both Dental School President and Vice President. His academic excellence placed him on the Dean’s List and earned him membership in Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society recognizing the top graduating dentists. He completed a General Practice Residency at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell, gaining a comprehensive understanding of complex patient care. He then pursued specialty training in periodontics at the Manhattan Veterans Affairs Hospital, where he treated medically compromised patients and managed advanced surgical cases.
Today, Dr. Elhein is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, specializing in minimally invasive techniques that reduce recovery time, such as laser periodontal therapy and the Pinhole Surgical Technique—a scalpel-free procedure used to correct gum recession. He remains dedicated to continuing education so that he can stay on top of the latest advancements in the field.
Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?
Away from dentistry, Dr. Elhein leads an active lifestyle and enjoys playing football and basketball, along with staying consistent at the gym. When it is time to unwind, he is a dedicated movie enthusiast and enjoys the strategy and creativity of video gaming. He values balance, connection, and integrity, both in his personal life and in the care he provides to every patient.
