Find out how your Long Island City dentist is safeguarding your health during\nyour next appointment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Making Your Appointment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your dental team is working hard to keep you safe before you\neven make your appointment. When you call to schedule your visit, you may\nnotice that you\u2019re offered fewer times than you\u2019re used to. Sequenced patient\nscheduling means that your dentist is seeing fewer patients and allocating more\ntime between appointments for coming, going, and cleaning. They also have hours\ndedicated exclusively for patients who are older, have underlying conditions,\nor are at-risk of complications from COVID-19. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Arriving to the Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Previously, you would walk into the dental office, check in\nat the front desk, and wait in the reception area with the other patients. Now when\nyou arrive for your appointment, you can expect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Checking in from your car: <\/strong>To minimize your\nexposure to others, your dentist has implemented a virtual waiting room. You\ncan check in for your appointment from the comfort of your car, then bypass the\nreception area and go directly to your treatment room when it\u2019s ready.<\/li><li><strong>A quick patient screening:<\/strong> All patients\nwill answer a short health questionnaire and have their temperature checked\nbefore entering the clinical area. <\/li><li><strong>Changes to the reception area:<\/strong> As soon as\nyou walk into the practice, you\u2019ll notice that magazines, toys, and several\nchairs have been removed to limit frequently touched surfaces. You\u2019ll also\nnotice the new clear plastic barriers and hum of HEPA air filters. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">During Your Treatment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before receiving your dental care, you\u2019ll be asked to utilize\nthe hospital-grade hand sanitizer and rinse your mouth with an anti-microbial\nmouthwash. When you sit down in the examination chair, you\u2019ll find that your\ndentist has installed advanced chairside suction machines that minimize aerosol\ncontamination. You\u2019ll also see that there have been a few additions to your dental\nteam\u2019s working wardrobes, including face shields, disposable coats, and shoe\ncoverings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">After Your Appointment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In the past, you may have had your dental work completed\nover several appointments. To reduce how many times you need to visit the\noffice, you may be offered an extended appointment in order for your dentist to\nget more work. Some follow-up visits may be able to be completed via\nteledentistry and a secure, online patient communication portal from the safety\nof your home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The COVID-19 pandemic may have changed what your dental\nvisits look like, but it hasn\u2019t changed your dentist\u2019s commitment to your\nwellbeing.
